Reassembling the 403: 16 April 2014

Bristol 403- respray

In the past, someone painted the dashboard with a sort of deep dark gruesome paint. This gunk (left) has to be removed to show again the colour and texture of the original rosewood veneer (right, a panel already stripped and cleaned)

The woodwork has been sanded, the old dark paint removed; now the first layer of varnish has been applied

Wheelarches painted in dark red, a little fetish

The engine bay being tidied up, the original jack restored and repainted in its original bright red

The nose is so beautiful.... it reminds any cultured aficionado of the 1940 Mille Miglia-winning BMW Berlinetta. The body of that BMW, obviously, was Touring's, like this one. The badges have an orange background and thus they come from a 401, they will be changed in due time with the proper 'red' ones

The windscreen washer bottle, restored

The Lucas 404 rear lamps and holders are impossible to find so mr Bedosti and Mimmo restored the old rusty ones. The result is excellent

The windscreen panes have been refitted using the original rubber seals supplied by BCL

Only one seat fitted (5 May 2014) to transport the 403 from Mr Bedosti's bodyshop in Faenza to the Gordini brothers' shop in Idice
