403-1404, 2017:
June-July developments: 15th

Some weeks ago I bought from a very kind BOC member a remote-control gearlever conversion, to change the normal 'porridge stirrer'. Marco Gordini began to disassemble the 403 floor to fit the new kit, but something does not seem to be really right

Either the gear lever is too vertical, or too long, or the remote control linkage is a bit short...but here you see that the gear lever, in neutral, is too close to the facia

As Geoff rightly told me, the 'Spares Handbook' shows that the original 403 Remote Control gear lever had a marked 'kink' at its base, so there's nothing wrong in bending the straight one that we have

Some modification will also be needed also to the O/D switch....

...so Marco did modify the upper carter to fit the switch. It works but at the time being (12 July) it's nearly impossible to engage the 2nd and 4th gear even if I double-declutch

A Radiomobile '4200' could be fitted as an optional on the Bristol 403 in place of the 'normal' EKCO 'Car Radio Model CR61'. I fitted this classic Radiomobile '980' that has been converted to receive FM as well and was fitted on my 409 when I bought it

No reason to put this picture here, I just love it

A demister fan that I would like to have restored to see if this could be less noisy than the one that is now in my 403

A few days ago, at the Varano racing track, I noticed a BMW 326. The wheel is very similar to the one fitted on Bristols after 1946, even the tire size (5,50x16) is the same as the 400's

Note: from 1st July 2017 all the pictures in this site will be taken with a Huawei P10 Plus phone, whose lens has been designed in cooperation with Leica. I love Leicas....

31 July 2017:
work completed on the remote control gear lever

It looks very nice

It was a worthwhile modification and we took this chance to improve the 403's soundproofing

The overdrive switch was quite crude so I adapted to it a MG label; the rubber grommet at the bottom of the tunnel covers the hole that allow to replenish the overdive if its oil level gets low. It will be covered in either grey or red leather
