Exquisite details:
Driving position adjustment (from the 403's 'Instruction Manual')

"The driving seat is provided with a quick-action adjustment for leg reach and adjustment of the back rest. The steering wheel can be set to one of three positions on its column. These adjustments are described in the following passages.

"Steering wheel setting
The steering wheel can be set to one of three positions. The car is delivered with the steering wheel set to its farthest forward position. Both the remaining settings are measured from the above position as under:—
l: 3/4 in. (19 mm.) nearer the seat.
2: 1 1/2 in. (38 mm.) nearer the seat.

To adjust, turn the steering wheel until the adjusting bolt head and nut are readily accessible through the holes in the column fairing beneath the wheel. Remove the nut with a 5/16 in. box spanner and push out the bolt. Pull the steering wheel to the desired position, line up the bolt holes and replace the bolt and nut. Tighten the nut securely."

The bolt allowing the adjustment on the steering wheel is visible in these pics

The seat adjustment system is also quite complex, and (as usual) very refined. From the 'Instruction Manual' again:

"Front seat adjustment
Sit in the seat, lift up thc finger-tab over the seat sliding release on the inboard side (i.e. adjacent to the hand brakc lever), press down on the locking knob and slide the seat to the desired position. Release the locking knob and slide the seat until the lock engages with the nearest catch slot. Snap over the finger-tab. For ease and convenience of exit and entry if necessary, lift the finger-tab and slide the seat back: on re-entering the seat, slide it forward until it automatically locks in the previously selected and snap over the finger-tab."

The seat, unlocked (upper pics) then securely locked (bottom right). As usual, Bristol didn't choose a cheap layout but an elegant, if expensive, 'better' solution

403 seat back adjustment

"The angle of the back rest of both front seats is adjustable in the same manner. Four different angles are provided. The back rests on adjustable cam wheels on each side of the seats. Tip the back of the seat forward and turn the cam wheel on either side an amount until the required angle of the back rest is achieved.
Caution.—Make sure that the setting of each pair of cam wheels on one seat is exactly similar, otherwise a twisting strain will be thrown on the back rest.
"

This a nice, easily overlooked piece of ingenuity. The rectangular piece of aluminum that supports the hinge of the seat back can be rotated by hand in 4 positions so it will change the the angle of the whole back. Four different angles are provided, as the rotation makes it longer or shorter at will. Simple and utterly genial

The rear light is quite powerful
