17 February 2020: on the road again

IThe 409 has been sitting too much time in her heated garage in Faenza. Time to take her out for servicing, with high hopes of using her for some pleasant journey next Spring

The 409 back at the Gordini garage where the two brothers, Marco and Andrea, restored her mechanicals and made several fruitful improvements during my 11-years ownership. She drives very well now

Now I'm waiting for news about her service

The cause of the oil leak that I have noticed since some time was identified in the connection the gearchange cable to the gearbox. As it's only a little drop I'll let it as is, it would be too tricky to find the spare part and replacing it

Another try at fitting a modern, vintage-looking radio that is not expensive but gives you at least the hands-free phone that we all need nowadays. This 'Caliber' is cheap and is not terribly attractive but its black face at least mixes well with the black rims of the 409's instruments surround and climate controls. The radio reception is not so good but the Bluetooth connection is terrific

The original 'Selectaride' knob is unavailable and mine was too loose to work, so Marco fitted a knob taken from a vintage american hifi amplifier. It would be nice to make a sticker with the 'Selectaride' script
