This was the only part of the underside of my 409 where rust had done some appreciable damage. The square rail that reinforces the bottom of the spare wheel bay had been almost completely 'eaten' by rust had to be replaced and the surface rust surrounding it fixed. On the driver's side, that 'rail' had been replaced by the previous owner and rustproofed


The rusty rail (or its remains!) have been carefully removed and it has been replaced by a new one, thus allowing to reinfroce and straighten the bottom panel of the spare wheel bay


The tools were cleaned, the jack carefully greased and repainted
