It is quite easy to find now on eBay a number of ex-NRU (National Dutch Radio) 930s. They're easily recognisable as they are very early models with a straight Acoustical tonearm, stylus illuminator in the arm support, no EMT preamplifier nor brake. Some of these modifications made sense for the personal ideas of the Dutch broadcasters, but they are, IMHO, sonically quite poor.

Though there have been a (very few) known exceptions, the vast majority of these 930s has been rudely abused and are for sale in a sad state, much worse usually than the pictures show. It is very difficult for a buyer to get a ex-NRU machine worth of the 'EMT' name.

My personal feeling is that one should NEVER spend more than 8-900 US Dollars for one of these machines, unless it is a really good-looking machine that could at least be part of a display. The sonic qualities of these machines are seriously impaired, when compared to a 'real' 930st, by its tonearm.
