Don't ever modify your EMT 930......

I respect what the old masters did in the past. I'd never retouch a Rubens; other guys would surely think they can do so. My web-friend and great turntable cognoscenti ‘mosin’ rightly admonishes fellow forumers: “…be aware that Stefano is a purist of the most traditional order. He may not take kindly to any modifications of the EMTs….

He's right. Actually, I'm a retrograde. I don't think that the amateur tweakers of today are improving anything; the original items were created by truly great engineers, who really knew what they were doing and had the means to experiment their designs.

Moreover, I think that trying to advise everybody to use their EMTs exactly as they were designed is a good thing. Keeping a great machine in its original shape is not only a matter of conservationism, of being afraid to spoil an investment. It’s a matter of respect for all what an old machine means for its history, for its design, for the commitment of so many expert designers and skilled workers in its realisation. If you understand this, you deserve to own, enjoy and appreciate a classic machine; if you don’t, you’re just the mindless  buyer of an expensive toy whose soul you will never understand in your life.
