IL PELLICANO
2016

Anna and I love 'Il Pellicano', one of the most exclusive resorts of Italy, and we usually travel there for our anniversary, 1st June. This year marked our 20th wedding anniversary so we drove there for a 5-days holiday. The chosen this time was the XJR, one of the very last classic Jaguars and a British 'blower' machine too....

Wednesday 1st June, arrival at the Pellicano after a mercifully 'normal' trip

The view from the terraces is so relaxing

A great Club Sandwich
Federico welcomes us with a superb Martini, as always. He's one of the best

Cheers! (Martini glasses still wrapped in their protective paper...)

A splendid Martini. Federico is a great bartender and he likes his job, so here at the Pellicano you will be able to drink one of the best. Upon request, Federico will make you an excellent 'Pasini Express revisited' using the exquisite 'Vallombrosa' gin

Cheers....

A Ferrari California parked Saturday evening in front of the entrance of the hotel

This was a great panzanella

Breakfast can be so good that you remain speechless. This was the best bacon I've ever tasted, even better than the exquisite one that you can taste at Forte dei Marmi's 'Imperiale'

A lunch can't be much better than this one; sun, shade, the sea at the horizon, giant fried shrimps and a good glass of cold vernaccia

Catching the last rays of sun on our terrazza

A smile

The view from the breakfast table

The unavoidable selfies

Sunday 5 June. Time to get back to Bologna.....

OK, the Pasinis never travel light, we need jackets and shirts and several shoes and ties and watches and so on.... So we also need several suitcases and bags and carriers. Plus you always take with you many books and magazines so you require a large boot. That's why I love so much Bristols....and large Jaguar saloons, of course

Some data. 594,9 kms was that the total distance covered to and from the Pellicano. Average fuel consumption was 12,5 lt/kms (roughly 24 mpg) which is not bad when you consider that when I bought her, FC777FX  needed 22 litres to cover the same 100 kms, or 13 mpg if you prefer....
