Forte dei Marmi is enjoying a spectacular state of health these days, with VERY wealthy patrons coming from all corners of the world to enjoy the elegance, quiet and sheer elegance of Versilia's most famous seaside resort. 'Principe 67' is a completely new luxury hotel, a bit new age but luckily escaping the traps of 'fashion at all costs'. It will be necessary to consider separately the hotel itself, its restaurant and bar. The hotel is surely excellent; at 1.111 Euros for the cheapest room, 'Excellence was Expected' (to paraphrase the great Porsche historian Karl Ludwigsen). We can vouch for the excellence of the bar, named '67 Sky Lounge', that we did test (repeatedly, and with great gusto). It is strategically placed at the top of the building, in a panoramic terrace overlooking the beaches of Forte, and it is a real gem. From there you can enjoy one of Forte's better Martinis, very ably mixed by Roberto (a bartender that can offer you several premium gins and always keep a Tanqueray Ten bottle in the freezer!) and smiling Greta, while admiring in style the spectacular view of the sun setting in the Tirreno. Service is impeccable; the ambience, exquisite. Pity that the restaurant of the hotel, that we were eager to put to test after such a great aperitivo, is a huge letdown. How can you serve COLD spaghetti and indifferent fish in Italy, in such a luxurious place, to Italian customers....?

2014, and things are a bit better at the resturant of the 'Dalmazia', Principe 67's stylish beach restaurant. Nice coreography and excellent service couldn't make up for a fritto misto that had too many vegetables, and calamaris that were not as tender as one would like them to be.... |

The strong point of the 'Principe' remains the spectacular Sky Lounge, on the 4th floor terrace overlooking the Forte beach. That really puts a smile on your face |

This place look special even in winter, so Anna and I decided to test it for Martini and dinner the evening of Christmas 2015. The Martini was excellent as always, much less palatable were the tiny morsels of food that went with it. The dinner was very good and, surprisingly enough, the restaurant was fully booked |
