The great golf courses built around Marrakech, starting in 1933 with the beautiful (if a little short) Royal Golf Course, are a powerful attractive for people who like to play in the morning, relax in the afternoon basking in the scorching Moroccoan sunshine near a beautiful pool and then, having properly dressed for dinner, have a good Martini. The Four Seasons is a new, elegant resort where Federico, the Italian bar manager, and Francesco, the Italian chef, manage to offer a great Martini based on Tanqueray 'Ten', with the right glass and the right temperature.

Scenery is fascinating but if you fancy a truly good Martini you must remember, upon arrival, to ask to put that bottle of Tanqueray 'Ten' in the freezer. When we came back on a Monday, Federico's day of rest, the bottle had been taken out of the freezer and its 27°C temperatire was not what we appreciate in a Martini cocktail. The olive was stoned, too. But the view from the terrasse is so nice.... |
