THE TEMPLES OF THE COCKTAIL MARTINI

Fratellinis, Forte dei Marmi

Forte dei Marmi is since decades the most elegant seaside resort in Italy, and the great capitalistic families of Northern Italy have their villas on the coast of Versilia. A good Martini being necessary fare for well-educated, cosmopolitan people as these, it has always been easy to find in Forte a passable one, if not the best in the world. Improving on this situation, nowadays you can get a really excellent Martini chez Fratellinis', a small restaurant-with-garden squeezed between the Osteria del Mare and the main pier.

Fratellinis' proposes its customers several tasty dishes, but the Martini is simply excellent: this is one of the very few places in Italy where you only have to remind the bartender that you do not like a lemon 'twist' and then he will go on on his own, mixing a traditional, extremely dry Martini cocktail that's both right on proportions and cold enough.

A strong bonus point is that Andrea, Fratellinis' manager, knows how to treat his customers and so 'his' Martini comes with a tantalizing assortment of appetizers while you wait for your dinner: Tempura-fried shrimps, crackers with tomatoes, all kind of sushi and the like. You can have oysters, too.

If you are an enthusiast of the cocktail Martini (and of the good life...) in Versilia, this spot is unmissable!
