'Palladio' is the Giudecca branch of the famous Bauer hotel, one of the best and most fascinating in Venezia. The original Bauer's terrazza 'Settimo Cielo' is simply astonishing, and the Palladio sports a premium position nearly at the far end of the Giudecca island.

Pity the bartender wasn't able to make a decent Martini; he was evidently quite sure that putting lots of Martini vermouth in a (Beluga vodka!) glass makes a better Martini than the very dry one that we asked explicitly, and so he did, refusing also to make another one after we complained about the awful results of his mix

The Martini was therefore almost undrinkable, spoiling in part what had been, until then, a delightful afternoon. Too bad, because the Bauer Palladio is very nice

As I mentioned before, the 'Settimo Cielo' terrazza on the top floor of the original Bauer is simply astonishing. And I'm sure that the bartender in that honorable establishment knows how to mix a perfect Martini....
