THE TEMPLES OF THE COCKTAIL MARTINI

Don Alfonso, Sant'Agata dei Due Golfi

Once renowned as one of the great Temples of the Italian top-level restoration, due to the efforts and gusto of its creator, Alfonso Iaccarino, the Don Alfonso is located in a small city over the Costiera Amalfitana and now offers some rooms and suites too.

Their Martini cocktail can be improved. To begin with, it wasn't cold enough: the first one was also far from dry, it was very probably an old-style 4+1 mixture that I had, regretfully, to send back. The second one was better, but still not cold enough and not of the supreme quality level that one would expect from such a restaurant.

I must also mention that after dinner, my request for a 'Red Stripe' Macallan was not fulfilled as they, quite surprisingly, don’t stock this classic whisky, nor its 'normal' relatives among that noble family. Maybe this was all for the better, as after a frankly underwhelming dinner I experienced a serious headache that a glass of full-proof whiskey would not have improved
