Pity that the small picture,
taken from one of the least pleasant sites in today's web, can't show
the fascination of this grand old establishment. The Grand Hotel et de
Milan has not changed much from the times when Giuseppe Verdi lived
there; its bar is confortably full of that sombre, Milanese austerity
that does not refuse luxury, just manages it with the ease coming from
being used to money. Marco Makaus recommends it: who are we to discuss
his opinion? We just agree with this famed connoisseur, sit down on the
age-cured sofas of the Gerrys Bar and enjoy this peculiar Martini.
