'Πλάκα' is
the ancient part of Athens, lively, full of ancient buildings, classic
ruins, restaurants and tavernas. My Greek friend, the volcanic Alex
Vazeos, took Anna and me after the Philpa Concours around Plaka for a
scenic tour and it was really amazing! He warned me that it would not be
easy to find a good Martini place, though.

Well, 'Kuzina' is a really
good restaurant; it looks modern in a 'warehouse' style that looks very
similar to some fashionable Manhattan restaurants and its Black Cod is a
fantastic dish. More to the point, when I asked this charming young lady
for a Martini she simply asked 'how do you want it?', produced a perfect
Martini stem glass and proceeded to mix a very nice 50:50, ample, cold
and strong enough. The ice was only there to chill the glass.....
I am sure that there are other spots in Athens
that would deserve a citation. I didn't have much time to try any other.
For sure if you are there you can do much worse that getting a table at
Kuzina and have your strong Martini mixed while you wait for the meal in
the open, savouring the fascinating warmth of a late October evening
