PREMIUM GINS FOR A GREAT COCKTAIL MARTINI

You can't make a good Martini cocktail with a mediocre gin, so here's some of my favourite 'modern' premium gins....leaving out for the moment old classics like the Tanqueray 'Ten' or the Hendricks'

Strong, full of flavour, probably today's best: the 'Limited Edition' 60% BlackWhood's

Elegant and tasty, befitting its role as the flagship of the classic Beefeater's range: The 'Crown Jewel'

A new classic: Martin Miller's 'Westbourne Strenght' is a 90° proof high-quality gin born in 2002, blended in Iceland with the purest Icelandic water....

Not 'new', but a grand classic coming back from oblivion: the 'Navy Strength' Plymouth is a 57% gin famous for being the natural choice of the Royal Navy's sailors. Enough said...

A new type of gin: 'Gin Mare' and G'Vine 'Floraison' are made from spirits and olives, rosemary, thyme (and parsley and sage?), coriandre, cardamom, liquorice and so on. Great 'botanicals', maybe not suited to everyone's taste.....
