Our 409 was parked in the centre of Salsomaggiore Terme. Weather was not very good....
A MOST luxurious hotel: the 'Imperiale' in Forte dei Marmi. Tasteful luxury at its best
A splendid breakfast at the Imperiale. The bacon was absolutely the best that I have ever found, anywhere
La 'Cittadella del Carnevale' is a funny, though slightly surreal, place....
The 'Polizia' support crew was, as always, excellent
Saturday 18 April
Saturday the 'Terre di Canossa' convoy stopped at the basis of the 'Folgore', the élite paratroopers regiment in Pisa. One of the best units in the world, and us Italians must be proud of it....my uncle was an officer in the 'Nembo' sister division
Corrado and Elena LoPresto, with Tazio, looking glamorous as ever and obviously happy to meet the formidable team of paratroopers that showed their skill hitting the small mattress placed in the yard after being dropped from 2000 meters. Amazing

Coming back, an unpleasant surprise. One of the four Mercedes-Benz steel rims that I adapted to the 409 in 2011, with splendid results until now, developed not 1 but 2 nasty hairline cracks
Starting at 94,301 miles, coming back at 94,846. Terre di Canossa, plus the Bologna-Salsomaggiore and Reggio-Bologna transfers, was 545 miles long
