A WEDDING IN FIRENZE

You don’t really need an excuse to take out a big elegant vintage Jaguar and drive to Firenze.... So I was delighted to accept a new role as a chauffeur when Anna's niece Marina announced her wedding and asked to be carried to the Church with the XJ6
The hotel that Anna chose for the Saturday/Sunday night was a little piece of Heaven on the hills of Arcetri, a few steps from Pian dei Giullari: Villa Agape

This stunning little villa has everything that Tuscany is famous for around the world: superb classic architecture, elegant furnishing, ancient vases and fountains…..
…and the food was absolutely superb. Just take a look at this Tagliere di Salumi Toscani, looks like a classic painting and the Soppressata was almost too good to believe!
To avoid collecting too much dust during the night (the XJ6 had to be spotless for her ‘wedding duties’), I was allowed to park her in a secluded rear yard. Again, classic Tuscany scenery at its best
Saturday evening we couldn’t resist to the allure of the Martini at the Four Seasons in Borgo Pinti. Luca offered us a freshly baked pizza to go with the Martini, a charming combination if not exactly classic

I drove back to Bologna in the night of Sunday and the highway was mercifully quite empty. EX444BX went like a dream
A few miles before the Bologna toll booth the XJ6 hit the 156.000 mark (kilometers, of course, still less than 100.000 miles). Only the slight noise from the front LH wheel bearing was disturbing a very confortable trip, 370 kms in all with an average consumption of no more than 12 litres/100 kms. More than acceptable for a car with this level of confort, style and performance. Or, in other words, 'Grace, Pace and Space'
