Sadly, this year I had only one afternoon to spend there, so Thursday 20 October my trusty XJR was pressed into service again for a quick drive to Padova. Its superb engine and comfortable interior were perfect for the trip and even in the rain the big Dunlops proved excellent |

The VIP/Press underground parking lot of the Padova fair is always full to the brim, but I managed to find a nice place. Foldable rear mirrors are a real bonus in these circumstances |

Mr Tom Purves, Chairman of the RAC, very kindly took this wonderful pic of great friend Ian Cameron, former Chief of Design at Rolls-Royce (this says something about his styling instinct....) and fellow Villa d'Este Judge, with Alberto and Enrico Curandi. Enrico being like a brother for me, and Alberto like a godson, it was great to find all of us in Padova! We were all admiring this row of Alfa Romeos. Thanks Tom.... |

Registro Internazionale Touring published a splendid (and I mean that!) book for its Members. I have mine and I find it exquisite, especially as mr Bianchi Anderloni wrote a splendid dedication for me on my copy. But who is this mysterious 'Mr Straub'? |
The return after the Mostra closed, at 6pm sharp, was the usual ordeal in Padova's endless traffic queues, but at least I enjoyed a spectacular sunset. The Garmin SmartDrive 60 navigation system is quite good, too |
