Restoration of an old classic SPARTA GT-12 |

My old Sparta is the perfect basis for a new project |

The Bodine motor is big enough to propel a washing machine; unfortunately it is a 110V 60Hz motor, and thus not usable on our 220V 50Hz electric grid. Luckily, Andrea Bedosti, who is taking a personal interest in this restoration, has found an excellent technician who has fitted a transformer and frequency adapter so now it can be used |

The massive Bodine motor has a little spring-loaded 'door' at its bottom for lubrication. It runs very hot and shows some vibrations as well. Having been idle so many years it may need some 'running in', but I think that in fact there might be something wrong on its power supply or its rubber monts, too rigid to insulate this huge motor and its vibrations |
