14 October: let the show begin

Concorso d'Eleganza Varignana 1705 was scheduled from 13 to 15 October 2023. Setting up a Concorso for top-level classic cars in Mid-October was sort of a gamble, but we were lucky! The setting is, as one can see, marvellous; just 23 cars, hand-picked by the Selecting Committe, and the lawn in front of the old Palazzo

The Jury met, after some hard work in the morning, in the magnificent 'Treno Reale' for a well- deserved (well, we thought that we deserved it) lunch. Gianni Mercatali savouring his lasagna, but what will take your breath away is the splendour of this coach. Fit for a King, one might say

14 October, evening: black tie gala dinner

The President's table. Dott. Carlo Gherardi is the owner of the huge and incredibly fascinating 'Castello di Varignana' resort; he was the leading force for the Concorso with his right-hand man, great ckassic-car aficionado a great friend Dott. Massimo Dall'Olmo. On Dott. Gherardi's left side, Anna; on the right side Maria Leitner, top Italian motoring journlist and expert that acted also as the beautiful speaker of the Concorso.

Edizione 2023 | Un incredibile debutto

È stato un eccellente debutto quello del Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana 1705, che dopo un fine settimana con momenti unici e automobili spettacolari, ha incoronato la Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S Berlinetta Touring del 1939 di Corrado ed Elena Lopresto come Best of Show tra ben 23 veicoli dalla storia e dal design straordinario.

Grande l’emozione per Corrado Lopresto: “La soddisfazione è tanta perché vincere fra tutte le categorie di un concorso d’eleganza non è facile, soprattutto quando le auto sono delle fuoriclasse, come in questo caso. Vincere come Best in show è il sogno di tutti. Sono felice di aver partecipato all’edizione “numero zero” di una manifestazione che spero diventi uno degli appuntamenti importanti della stagione dei
concorsi d’eleganza internazionali”.

Altre cinque auto si sono aggiudicate il premio come primo classificato delle altre categorie: Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS del 1929; FIAT 1100 E Vistotal del 1950; Ferrari 250 GTL del 1963; Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider del 1955; BMW 3.0 CSL del 1972.

Ma il Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana 1705 è stato molto di più: una totale esaltazione di bellezza, eleganza e passione per i motori, con protagonisti e ospiti da tutto il mondo.

Palazzo di Varignana si è confermato un luogo dove realmente l’ospitalità e l’enogastronomia italiane si esprimono ai loro massimi livelli, tenendo fede a un “Heritage of Italian Lifestyle” che nasce dalla sintesi di elementi fuori dal comune: una cornice naturalistica incantevole, una struttura ricca di charme, una ricerca estrema di autenticità in tutto.

And the winner is... The splendid Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Berlinetta Aerodinamica Touring presented by the Lopresto family won the top prize

Dott. Elena Maggiore, Corrado's wife, shows the 'Best in Class' and 'Best in Show' trophies that this increbily fascinating car deservedly won. See you in 2024!
