Il Pellicano, Argentario (2009-2019)

Il Pellicano is one of the most beautiful hotels in Tuscany, in Italy and probably of the whole world. A magnificent setting, exquisite attention to detail, a Michelin two-star restaurant, service above reproach in every moment of day and night, a private beach and a fascinating pool makes the Pellicano a top spot for a nice extremely confortable holiday......the Martini is very good as well, but those glasses!

Il Pellicano (2013)

Coming back in June 2013 we had a very pleasant surprise. The 'Pellicano' is still the unique luxury hotel that the real connoisseurs really love: stylish, refined, great service and a awesome restaurant worth of its Michelin stars. But the bar, that was already excellent, has improved sensibly and is now offering a satisfying selection of gins and vermouths plus a interesting selections of bitters too. Federico, the barman, really knows his stuff not only for Martini recipes and special/premium gins, but also about the great Martini places around the world. Special vintage glasses were brought up for this excellent Tanqueray Ten-based Martini; the result is frankly brilliant, especially when you can savour such an exquisite mix in the enchanting surroundings of one of the most beautiful luxury hotel in Italy....

Il Pellicano (2014)

We left the 'Pellicano' in 2013 with pleasant memories of a really good bartender mixing a splendid Martini in a place that is nothing less than a Paradise on Earth, for Anna and me one of the (2) best hotels in Italy, on par with the splendid Villa d'Este in Cernobbio. This made the Pellicano bar rise in my rankings, quite deservedly, from the 17th to the 14th place. We came back in 2014 and found that things had improved even more. Federico Moroni, the bar manager, showed his class since we stepped in our room and I found this card:

The card and the choice of 2 of my favourite gins were a really classy touch, but there was more to follow...

Come 7 pm and I found that Federico had shrewdly improved my idea of the 'insulated' olive, putting this large olive in a diamond-shaped ice casting.... you may say that this olive is a jewel

What can I say? The martini(s) were excellent, the choice of gins and vermouth superb, every detail was checked with great care: the marks of a true professional. Federico and his bar at the 'Pellicano' rises sharply in my graduatory from the 14th to the 6th place, then to 3rd and and again to 2nd place after a bitter delusion at the Dukes, and they deserved this rise!

Federico is always ready to mix you one the best Martinis. He is without any doubt one of the best and most professional bartenders I've ever met, and his attention to detail, not to mention his exquisite politesse towards his customers, makes every Martini served by him a truly memorable experience. Bravo!
