MY FAVOURITE

The ‘Pasini Express Revisited’

The ‘Express Revisited’ is for the few who like a MUCH stronger taste than the original Express, published since 1998 on several classic Martini websites. The 2016 recipe:

Blackwood's 60% gin

Plymouth Gin

Martini Extra Dry Vermouth

One olive

All the gins must be freezer-cold. Pour the Martini in a LARGE stem glass (crystal Villeroy & Boch, for example) together with a large, very cold ice cube, and stir for a few seconds, then throw away the Martini, add the Plymouth 'Normal Strenght' (1/3) then then the BlackWhoods (2/3) one on top of the other. Stir the lot (gently); add one large unstoned olive, avoid any lemon.

Drink savvily, repeat as necessary and remember that 'Martinis are like women's breasts, one is too few, three is too many....."

The ‘Pasini Express’

Published since 1998 on a classic Martini website, the ‘Express’ is for the 'Vodka Martini' lovers

Absolut ‘Red’ (50° proof) vodka

Martini Extra Dry Vermouth

Two olives

Mix for some seconds a bit of vermouth in a classical stem glass with a cube of ice, thethrow away the vermouth and pour as much Absolut as you need and add two large olives. Drink quickly and repeat as necessary.

An extraordinarily attractive site: 'The Hungover Gourmet'.

The 'Pasini Express' is their favourite....Thanks!

No, not this one.... for a good Martini cocktail, you'll need a really good glass

This a great Martini book:

'Shaken, not Stirred' By Anistatia R. Miller and Jared M. Brown

FROM 'CASINO ROYALE' TO 'MOONRAKER':

THE JAMES BOND-INSPIRED MARTINI,

‘The Vesper Revisited Mk II’

Dedicated to the enthusiasts who like the Bond of the Fleming’s books, not of the Broccoli movies, but can’t find the original Kina Lillet vermouth.

Xzellent or Imperia vodka;

Hendricks Gin;

(Martini Extra Dry Vermouth;)

Pepper

Mix for some seconds a bit of vermouth in a classical conical stem glass, then throw away the vermouth and pour first the Hendricks (1/3 of the total)  and Xzellent (2/3 of the total) in the quantity needed for one, two or three glasses. Stir it for another minute, then pour it in the glass(es). You may like to put some grains of Malabar freshly-ground pepper in the glasses. Bond would undoubtedly approve.

As alternative, don't bother to put the vermouth in the glass and do as Winston Churchill once famously suggested, go near the glass and simply whisper 'Martini' instead. It will be enough.
