A new exhaust (August 2015) |

Adriano Bartoli in Faenza is an undisputed Master of the exhaust systems for high-performance, high-quality cars. He manufactures custom-made stainless-steel systems for Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini...and Bristols and Jaguars as well. He took care of the XJR exhaust that was all loose, its downpipes cracked, making it airtight; in a second session he fitted new catalyzers, but the 'voice' of this exhaust is not what I want, so it will have to be modified |

Friday 25 September: a b***dy leaking hose |
|

This hose (MNA6720AB?) was clearly old and it broke |
The new blue one is a bit 'bright' but it's a high-tech Teflon-based item that promises to outlast the XJR |

Once replaced the hose, the XJR went back to Bartoli to fit silencers with a better 'voice' |
Usually it is the clock that has trouble with LEDs, in my XJR the problem is the temperature console, if there is a LED on its left side it must be burnt |

Autumn is coming and the temperature is falling: it quickly became clear that the heater didn't work very well. I had to trust the XJR to Romano Bernardoni's Emilianauto, supreme Jaguar dealer and 'historical' service center for Jaguar, Aston Martins, Range Rovers etc since 40 yrs, to see what could be done to activate the central air outlets. I can say that at least my XJ40 and XJR are in very good company |

My 1995 XJR has very good-looking alloys, but they are painted, whilst most of the XJRs that I have seen until now have polished alloys. I was wondering if this painted finish was a modification done by a previous owner or was it offered as standard or option in any year of production of the inline-6 XJR; Naki came to the rescue informing me that both finishes were offered by Jaguar on the XJR: Road wheel 8J x 17" cast 5 spoke diamond turned MNA6116AA 8J x 17" cast 5 spoke painted MNB6116AA |

Two clips hold the umbrella (a Villa d'Este umbrella, no less, in this case) under the boot's upper lid so that it doesn't intrude in the luggage bay. You can find it on eBay for a very reasonable sum, listed as 'Car Umbrella Hanger Car Trunk Lid Golf club Stick Hanger Multipurpose Holder' by a seller 'mohaggo' and shipping was quick and fast; it's well worth it |

The little piece of yellowish/white plastic shown inside the red circle broke last week and the collapse of this cable (allegedly a cruise control cable) caused a sudden enrichment of the carburetion, black smoke at the exhaust, car stalling etc. Mimmo at Bedosti's masterfully glued its broken pieces together but I'd like to fit a new one or at least an used one that hasn't broken before. I can't find it anywhere: does anyone have any for sale? I'd buy the whole cable of course, if necessary |

For the XJR, I chose Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 255/45 R17 98Y, homologated for speeds up to 300 km/h. British car, British tires... |
