AUDI A2 1.6 FSI (2002)

The A2 was one of the cars directly inspired by Ferdinand Piëch, one of the most outstanding car engineers and managers of all times. With his death, the world loses one of the automobile's great visionaires, and the A2 her father

Ferdinand Piëch, 17 April 1937 – 25 August 2019 R.I.P.

A nice graphic idea from Car & Driver USA to show the 'Greatest Hits' by KFP

28 August: back on the road (at long last...!)

The dreaded yellow engine light has been put off after a long history of changing/repairing parts that in the past had been broken, badly fixed, nastily modified and so on. Now she's ready to go, though there still are several issues to deal with

No yellow warning lights on the dial anymore, and the freshly installed Cruise Control works a treat

The A/C console is passable, sadly the A/C itself didn't work when I took delivery of the A2 and driving the FSI to Faenza with 34.0°C outside was not such a pleasure

New wheel centres are desirable

The FSI has the undisputable advantage, over the standard 1.4s, of disc brakes on all four wheels

The sunvisor holding clip broke; I also need a four-rings emblem to apply after we have removed the present one to clean and polish thoroughly the paint

Two of the original 16" rims are good, the other two less so but they can be repainted easily

The calcium+salt deposits under the rear wing have been thoroughly cleaned by Andrea Bedosti

The rear CCD camera is admittedly a bit too 'evident', I'd look for something less showy
